JT THORPE’s unique Shop Application Process provides the safest approach to maximizing production and quality on individual stick members and pre-assembled modular frames. The process utilizes our proprietary tracking system allowing for full integration of quality control,

production tracking and location of steel in real time.

All of our fireproofing shop facilities produce the highest quality industrial and commercial fireproofing. JT THORPE specializes in intumescent and cementitious shop applied fireproofing and can process galvanized, black, or already primed steel. JT THORPE shop applied fireproofing systems will provide pool fire, jet fire and/or cryogenic spill protection.

JT THORPE’s Shop Fireproofing Process

Our shop fireproofing facilities implement a uniquely developed process that allows the different fireproofing application steps to move as an assembly line while the steel stays in the same location. Our unique process provides the safest approach to maximizing production and quality on individual stick members and pre-assembled modular frames.

JT THORPE utilizes a proprietary tracking system that allows for a full integration of quality control, production tracking and location of steel in real time. JT THORPE relies on our QC program and NACE technicians to ensure every item meets project specifications before passing the hold points and advancing to production.

Shop Fireproofing Modules

JT THORPE has the capability to process pre-assembled modules weighing up to 50 tons and spanning 85 feet long. JT THORPE will control all aspects of handling, coating and final shipment of modularized structures that require fire or cyro protection. JT THORPE has comprehensive experience with applying shop fireproofing systems to bridge trusses, pipe rack and process equipment modules.

“Stick to Modular” is a unique JT THORPE cost savings offering that provides our clients an alternate turnkey solution: send us individual “stick” steel members, and we will handle all aspects of bolt assembly, surface prep, fireproof coatings and delivery of completed modular frames to the final destination.

Shop Fireproofing Capacity

JT THORPE’s largest fireproofing facility has a standard production of 30,000 SF per week with access to truck, rail and barge. JT THORPE can create a detailed production schedule with varying levels of production to suit any project size. JT THORPE can support any project (stick, modular) and any project location with one or several of our shop fireproofing facilities.
